Rachel Hughes Receives GKHS Annual Sports and Health Scholarship

We are pleased to announce and present our annual 2017 Genoa-Kingston High School Sports and Health Scholarship to Rachel Hughes!

Rachel Hughes, a recently graduated senior at Genoa-Kingston High School, was chosen for her outstanding achievements in athletics, academics, and choice to pursue a career in the healthcare/sports medicine field. Rachel is a competitive Genoa-Kingston High School and Club Volleyball player. She was a member of the All-Conference Team in 2014 and 2015, and in 2016 was a member of the All-State Team and was chosen for the Showcase Match featuring the top 30 players in the state. She was the Varsity Team Captain and a member of the Academic All-Honors Team with Windy City Power League. In 2015, Rachel was also chosen as the Athlete of the Month and selected as Top 10 Athlete of the Year at Top Flight VCB. Additionally, she served as her Student Government’s Vice President her Junior year and Senior Class President, Vice President of the International Club, Co-Leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of Youth Engaged in Philanthropy. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, a State Merit Scholar, and was chosen to represent GKHS on the Mathematics and Physics Academic Team. This fall, Rachel will be attending the University of Wisconsin – Stout studying Industrial/Product Design for Healthcare.
