COVID-19 Shelter in Place Update

The impact of COVID-19 continues to evolve across the world and in our community. Outpatient physical therapy services such as provided at Northern Rehab have been labeled as an essential health care service, and therefore, Northern Rehab is allowed to remain open during the “Shelter in Place” order provided by Governor Pritzker. However, we have suspended all group exercise classes and massage therapy for at least the next 3 weeks.
During this time, we have asked our physical therapists to encourage patients who are most susceptible to severe COVID-19 due to risk factors such older age combined with diabetes, breathing or heart problems to place a hold on visiting our clinic during this timeframe. In addition, we are working on developing a system to offer telehealth physical therapy visits and hope to have this ready in the next week (week of March 30, 2020). Once it is ready, we will contact current patients who choose to stay home to see if they wish to set up a visit using an on-line platform or phone to have a session with their physical therapist.
For patients who choose to have physical therapy at one of our clinics, please be rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to make sure the environment is as safe and clean as possible by following CDC guidelines. We also have instituted a policy to restrict friends or family members of patients from staying in the clinic during treatment sessions.
If you have not had physical therapy in a while and wish to return, remember that we can see patients without a physician prescription. If your insurance policy requires a physician referral, we will work with your primary physician to attempt to help you meet this requirement following your first visit.
We will continue to monitor the pandemic and adapt accordingly as this situation continues to evolve. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 815.756.8524.
We wish you and your families good health!
